Back To School Prep

It’s that time, back to school. While this year is different from any that most of us have ever experienced, that does not stop the rapidly approaching school year. Regardless of if you are homeschooling or sending your children back for in-person learning the basics are still an important element for a successful school year. ⠀
As a parent of a middle schooler and a high schooler, I have a little experience of what sets the pace for the school year. I’ve tried and failed many times, but without question, our best years are the ones that we started with an organizational plan. I’ve realized that there are two main things that dictate the rest of the year and they are – a very detailed schedule (that will sometimes change) and organized workspaces. The organized workspaces this year are even more critical as more parents are choosing to homeschool. Even if you’re sending your child for in-person learning this is important as they’ll still need a place for doing homework. The best way to do this is to have a separate place for everything. Baskets, caddies, chair pouches are all great ideas for keeping things organized, especially if you are homeschooling. ⠀
The second thing I mentioned was a schedule. As much as your kids might fight it at first it really does make all the difference. I like to have a written out schedule that we all see first thing in the morning. This can be on the fridge, whiteboard, or my preferred method of an adorable chalkboard. The important thing is having it be something they see regularly and putting an emphasis on sticking to it as much as possible. ⠀
We hope you all have an amazing school year and that this helps you get organized in the process. We love to hear what’s working for you, so please share so we can help each other in the process. Also, let us know if you need more help, that’s what we love to do!⠀
